  1. How is Altitude Stock different from other stock agencies?

Altitude Stock is a specialty agency.  While the big companies are great a providing a lot of variety of images, it can be impossible to find a good selection of adventure/travel/lifestyle images.  While they generalize, we specialize.  And to top it off, we are all adventurers ourselves.  We don’t just photograph the lifestyle, we embrace it ourselves. 1. Why was Altitude Stock created?

After talking to an art director who was unable to find a climbing image she needed at one of the big agencies who rejected the outdoor images of  myself and several other talented photographers I know, I realized that the market demanded an agency who specializes in adventure pursuits. (top)

  1. Does Altitude Stock provide both rights managed and royalty free image licensing?

At this time, Altitude Stock only provides right managed licensing.  We believe one about adventure travel imagery is the unique quality of it.  Rights managed licensing allows our buyers the option of exclusivity by market, region, or worldwide. (top)

  1. What it the difference between RM and RF licensing?

Right managed means a buyer pays based on the type, quantity, duration, size, and exclusivity of usage.  This allows clients to pay based on their specific needs.  Royalty free images, the type found in clipart, allow buys to pay a small fee for unlimited usage for any duration of time.  Royalty free is much less expensive than rights managed, but it denies buys to control any of the exclusivity of their images. 1. If Altitude Stock doesn’t have exactly what I need, can they create it for me?

Yes.  Visit the assignment page to learn more about hiring Altitude Stock for image creation.  When you are ready, you can call or email us for a quote. (top)

  1. How will I receive images from Altitude Stock after purchasing a license?

If you request a stock research pull, we will put all of the images that meet your needs in an online lightbox and forward you a link to it.  Preview the images and once you make a selection, we will get licensing information including a quote to you along with the full resolution images on either CD or email for your review.  Rights are granted on receipt of payment. 1. How big is the Altitude Stock collection?

Currently the collection consists of 10,000+ images but it is increasing almost every day.  Visit the stock search page for more information regarding subjects covered. (top)

  1. Do you have a searchable image database online?

No.  We are currently in the process of constructing one.  When it is finished in summer 2008, you will be able to search the database, view previews, get quotes, make payments and receive the image and license all online instantaneously.  This system will make it much easier for buyers to get images from Altitude Stock.  For now, you can call or visit the contact page to place a stock search request. 1. How many photographers does Altitude Stock represent?

Currently, Timothy Faust, is the sole photographer and owner of Altitude Stock.  Once the online database is finished other photographers will be invited to join. (top)

  1. I’m a photographer.  How can I be represented by Altitude Stock?

Altitude Stock won’t be taking on any new photographers until July of 2008.  However, in the mean time we encourage photographers who focus on adventure travel images to submit a portfolio for review either through the mail or an online portfolio.  (top)
